Five offshore exploration wells and two geological surveys are planned for Suriname in 2025, Staatsolie confirmed. Operators TotalEnergies, PETRONAS, Shell, Chevron, and QatarEnergy will drill across multiple blocks.

In Block 58, TotalEnergies and APA Corporation continue development after their final investment decision on the GranMorgu project. First oil is expected in 2028. Staatsolie will take up to a 20% stake in the project, with its US$2.4 billion share financed through loans, internal funds, and bonds. Additional seismic data is being processed. Gas discoveries from the Maka and Kwaskwasi wells are under evaluation.

PETRONAS will drill two exploration wells in Block 52, starting in June. The company is also assessing the Sloanea gas discovery. Staatsolie said the results of a 2024 production test are under review.

In Block 64, TotalEnergies, PETRONAS, and QatarEnergy will drill the Macaw-1 exploration well in the second quarter. The well will test a new geological concept.

Shell and QatarEnergy will drill Araku Deep-1 in Block 65 later this year. Chevron and QatarEnergy will drill Korikori-1 in Block 5 during the fourth quarter.

Seismic surveys are planned for Blocks 63, 14, and 15. GeoPartners is analyzing data from a 2024 survey of Suriname’s central and eastern offshore. A deepwater study by ARGEO is ongoing.

Staatsolie confirmed all wells will be supported from a Suriname shorebase, handling logistics and crew transfers locally.
