The Guyana government has announced the initiation of a public consultation for Guyana’s gas monetization strategy. A release from the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) said the strategy aims to serve as a “pivotal roadmap for managing the nation’s significant gas resources” and a “vital tool for Guyana to make informed decisions regarding the utilization of its gas resources.”
It noted that the Stabroek and Corentyne blocks hold substantial gas resources. “Ongoing exploration and appraisal activities are underway to determine the full extent of Guyana’s gas resources,” the MNR stated. To date, the projects in the Stabroek Block that have been approved are solely focused on oil extraction. The produced gas is being reinjected to facilitate maximum oil recovery. However, appraisal programs are ongoing for discoveries with significant gas and condensate at Pluma, Haimara, and other locations.
