Since 2016, Stena Drilling has contributed significantly to Guyana’s economy through local investments and job creation.

 “Stena Drilling has spent over US$85 million with local vendors and now employs 157 Guyanese personnel since operations commenced in 2016, contributing to local economic growth,” Richard Wells, International Logistics Manager said.

He added that the company prioritizes “community engagement, creating employment opportunities, and building long-term partnerships with local businesses”.

Wells emphasized the variety of Guyanese professionals involved in Stena Drilling’s operations in Guyana, such as rig managers, operations engineers, logistics controllers, local content advisors, and safety officers. He added that the workforce also includes derrickmen, storemen, a trainee dynamic positioning officer, and crew members who have taken on assistant driller roles.

Stena Drilling currently operates two rigs offshore Guyana alongside Noble Drilling’s fleet, supporting ExxonMobil’s exploration, appraisal, and development drilling activities.
