Noble Drilling has awarded scholarships to 20 outstanding marine cadets as part of its Noble Marine Scholarship Program. The company shared this announcement on LinkedIn on March 21.
The initiative, conducted in collaboration with MatPal Marine Institute and El Dorado Offshore, aims to strengthen Guyana’s maritime workforce by fostering local talent.
The program offers full financial support focused on skills in navigation, marine engineering, and offshore operations. The cadets will undertake a rigorous four-year journey that combines academic instruction with hands-on offshore experience.
El Dorado Offshore said the selection process was competitive, with over 900 applicants vying for the opportunity. The chosen cadets demonstrated exceptional dedication, passion, and potential to lead the maritime sector.
The program is expected to shape the future of Guyana’s maritime industry, driving innovation and excellence while reinforcing the country’s role in the global maritime arena.
Noble is one of ExxonMobil’s biggest Stabroek Block contractors.
El Dorado, Noble, and MATPAL last graduated cadets from the program in May 2024. In 2023, Noble sent two Guyanese nationals to study maritime transportation at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. The company is among several international companies operating in Guyana’s oil and gas sector that have provided scholarships and training opportunities for locals.
