As work on the Liza Destiny FPSO moves into high gear in Singapore, SBM offshore is ramping up its preparations for the arrival and operation of the vessel that will bring first oil for the South American country of Guyana in March 2020.
The company’s  subsidiary; Guyana Deep Water Operations (GDO) Inc. is inviting companies to express interest in bidding for a number of upcoming service opportunities, many of which some companies in Guyana may already be in a position to provide.
These include travel, real estate, office maintenance, telephone, IT support, communication, painting, catering, and transport services, among a range of others.
OilNOW understands that several Guyanese businesses, some of which are already in joint ventures with companies operating in the oil & gas industry, are looking to capitalize on this latest opportunity.
Back in November, GDO also invited companies to bid for the provision of manpower services for both onshore and offshore operations of the Liza Destiny.
The operation of the Liza Destiny has potential for sustainable, long term local content. At start-up, SBM is expected to have a target of 25% Guyanese, increasing to at least 75% within the first 8 years of operation.
SBM Offshore announced in June 2017 the award of contracts for the phase 1 of the ExxonMobil Liza project in Guyana. Under these contracts, SBM Offshore will construct, install, lease and operate the Liza Destiny.
