As US oil major ExxonMobil, operator at the 6.6 million acres Stabroek Block, prepares for first oil in the South American country of Guyana, the company is also ramping up its search for more hydrocarbons with a number of campaigns currently being undertaken offshore.
According to a notice from Guyana’s Maritime Administrative Department (MARAD) on December 7, ExxonMobil affiliate Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Limited (EEPGL) will continue its 3D/4D seismic surveys within the southeastern portion of the Stabroek Block.
The notice said that the operation, which is scheduled to conclude on December 31, 2019, will incorporate the use of SV Ramform Tethys, OSV Ocean Fortune, Delta Monarch, SV Ramform Titan, OSV Sea Horse II, OSV Sea Service and OSV Miss Megan. These vessels will be deploying and recovering equipment, streamers and receivers in a number of areas within the southeastern portion of the Stabroek Block.
Another MARAD Notice to Mariners on Saturday said that EEPGL is scheduled to soon commence drilling the Uaru-1 prospect at the Stabroek Block. The operation is expected to conclude on December 31, 2019. The drilling will be executed by the drill ship Noble Tom Madden along with the following vessels: Cat Island, Eland, Oryx, C-Installer, Clarence Triche, Michael Crombie McCall, Russell Adams, Springbok Gary Rock, Paradise Island, Sanibel Island, Horn Island, Robert Adams, John G. McCall, Jack Edwards, Emily Day McCall, Kirk Chouest and Amazon Seacosco.
On December 4, EEPGL commenced a drilling operation at the Hassa-1 well site within the Stabroek Block. This exercise is expected to conclude on December 11, 2019. The Noble Tom Madden is the drill ship on this campaign along with the support vessels listed earlier.
In addition, the Stena Carron will be carrying out a well testing operation at the Yellowtail-1 well between December 21 and 31.
So far, ExxonMobil and its co-venturers HESS and CNOOC have made 14 discoveries at the Stabroek Block amounting to kore than 6 billion barrels of oil equivalent. Oil production from the Liza Phase One Development is expected to begin before the end of the year.
