US-based marine transport company Harvey Gulf International Marine said on Wednesday that it became the first and only company in the United States to own and operate a “Tri-Fuel” vessel, as well as a vessel bunkering facility, selling both diesel fuel, and LNG.

The company said it completed the installation of a Wartsila battery-power system on the PSV HARVEY ENERGY, which was already a dual-fuel vessel capable of fully operating on LNG or diesel, making it a “Tri-Fuel” vessel.

At the same time, Harvey commenced operations at its new diesel bunkering facility in Port Fourchon, LA, pairing it with Harvey’s LNG bunkering operations there.  Harvey Gulf said it will also complete installation of a GE battery-power system on the PSV HARVEY CHAMPION in September.

Harvey Gulf’s customer base consists of major drilling contractors and Exploration and Production companies that primarily operate in the deepwater and ultra-deepwater industry.

In Guyana, two local entities – Western Logistics and Pandora Energy – have partnered with Harvey Gulf to provide services in the areas of logistics and crewing, stepping up their operations in the new South American oil and gas hotspot.

In August 2018, the company, which is based in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, announced that it was expanding its scope and targeting new markets in Guyana and Trinidad.
