The organisers of the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), the world’s largest oil and gas conference and exhibition, has chosen to postpone the 2021 event to August 16–19. OTC said Monday this is due to the ongoing challenges presented by the global pandemic and out of the greatest care for the health and safety of its partners, attendees, exhibitors, staff, and community.

“In the coming weeks, OTC will be communicating with authors, speakers, exhibitors, and partners to develop new in-person and virtual plans and ensure the conference continues to provide a platform for energy professionals to meet and exchange ideas,” the organisers said.

By postponing OTC to the second half of 2021, OTC said it aims to preserve the significant work of the program committee and authors, as well as minimize the economic impact this decision has on businesses in Houston and throughout the industry.

“We look forward to welcoming you to Houston in August 2021,” OTC said.

Back in April, OTC took a decision to cancel the 2020 event after what it said was significant consideration in light of the pandemic.

Over 20 companies from new oil producer Guyana participated in OTC 2019 as part of a delegation that was led by the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Since 1969, OTC has played a major role in connecting people from more than 100 countries to encourage collaboration and discussions on the challenges and successes encountered in the offshore sector. OTC brings together industry leaders, investors, buyers, and entrepreneurs to develop markets and business partnerships.
