The newly repaired and upgraded components of the flash gas compression system for the Liza Destiny FPSO have arrived offshore Guyana and are being reinstalled.

ExxonMobil Guyana’s Public and Government Affairs Advisor, Janelle Persaud, said Friday these include a newly designed third stage discharge venturi and upgraded discharge silencer.

She further noted that the Exxon team remains on track to complete reinstallation and startup of the flash gas compressor later this month.

In the meantime, the Advisor said the company continues to safely manage flare levels to less than 15 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.

The compressor system was removed in April, last, following a mechanical issue and was shipped to Houston, Texas, where it was repaired by MAN Energy Solutions.

Greg Hill, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Hess Corporation recently indicated that once the compressor is installed a ramp up in production can be expected. “We will be able to walk the production up somewhere between 120,000 barrels of oil per day to 130,000 barrels of oil per day. And then in November of this year, we will do two things; we will take a shut down and we’ll install a new design flash gas compressor to hopefully get it more reliable.”

After installing the new equipment in November, Hill said the Liza Destiny facility will have a new nameplate of somewhere between 140,000 to 150,000 barrels of oil per day.

Hess Corporation is one of the Stabroek Block partners and holds a 30 percent working interest.
