High-level Guyana contingent opens booth at Offshore Technology Conference 2022

The iconic Offshore Technology Conference 2022 opened today with participation from a high-level Guyana group, consisting of government and private sector representatives. The Guyana booth is aptly titled ‘The Gateway to Opportunities’.

OTC 2022 is scheduled to run for four days at the NRG Park in Houston Texas. Experts will congregate there to discuss the latest ideas and technologies to improve offshore operations and environmental management.

The Conference also gives Guyana another opportunity to show off its investment potential, following the conclusion of the International Energy Conference and Expo held in Georgetown in February.

Guyana’s participation in OTC 2021 positioned the country’s booth as the star of the Conference, returning officials had said.

At the highest level on the government’s side this year, Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat is accompanied by Chief Investment Officer of GO-Invest, Dr. Peter Ramsaroop; Senior Petroleum Coordinator at the Ministry of Natural Resources, Bobby Gossai Jr.; Director of the newly established Local Content Secretariat, Martin Pertab; Government Member of Parliament (MP), Sanjeev Datadin; and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Guyana Embassy in Washington D.C., Zulfikar Ally.

Among the representatives of the private sector are Chairman of the Private Sector Commission (PSC), Paul Cheong; Chairman of the PSC’s Local Content Advisory Group and Vice President of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) Guyana, Shyam Nokta; President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Timothy Tucker; Executive Director of the GCCI, Richard Rambarran; Director of NRG Holdings Inc., Nicholas Deygoo-Boyer; President of the Guyana Oil & Gas Energy Chamber (GOGEC), Manniram Prashad; President of Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Limited (EEPGL), Alistair Routledge.

Other businesses and associations represented or on display include Guyana Shore Base Inc., the International Energy Conference and Expo; Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI), Premier Insurance Guyana, Guyana Logistics and Support Services (GLASS), GAICO Construction and General Services; Express International and Guysons K+B Industries.

United States Ambassador to Guyana, Sarah-Ann Lynch is also participating.

According to the published schedule for the conference, on Tuesday at 9:00 am, Research and Advocacy Officer of GO-Invest, June-Ann Kowlessar will chair a discussion with public and private sector officials from Guyana, entitled ‘Promoting Investment for Guyana’s Petroleum Sector Through Beneficial Local Content Goals: Maximizing Business Opportunities and Profitability’.
