Brazil’s newest addition to its offshore oil platform fleet – the Anna Nery – has left the BrasFELS Shipyard, in the city of Angra dos Reis (RJ), en route to the Campos Basin for its expected 2023 start-up.
The new unit will be installed in the Marlim Field.
With the capacity to produce up to 70,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd) and process up to 4 million cubic metres (m3) of gas per day, the new oil platform is said to be strategic for Brazil’s Campos Basin Renewal Plan, aimed at renewing mature assets operated by the company in the region.

Petrobras is investing US$16 billion in this program that integrates its Strategic Plan for the period 2022 to 2026.
Petrobras said the Anna Nery will be anchored in a 927-meter water slide and connected to 32 wells, with peak production scheduled for 2025.
The Marlim Revitalisation Project plans to replace the nine platforms that operate today in the Marlim and Voador fields (P-18, P-19, P-20, P-26, P-32, P-33, P-35, P-37 and P-47) with the Anna Nery and Anita Garibaldi – the latter scheduled to start production also in 2023.

“The Campos Basin has pioneered innovation and will continue to be both for decommissioning projects and for the revitalization of mature concessions,” Petrobras said.
The Anna Nery had arrived at BrasFELS shipyard in early October 2022 and underwent final commissioning of the process plant, acceptance tests and regulatory inspections. Soon after setting sail from the shipyard, it underwent tests required by the Brazilian Navy in the anchorage area and was connected to the ocean tugs that are leading to the final lease in the Campos Basin.
