Italian contractor Saipem is looking for local welders to assist with its operations offshore Guyana.
According to a notice posted by Country Manager, Gianluigi Della Rosa to LinkedIn, the selected welders must be able to operate an electrode holder, welding torch or carbon arc air gouge by hand.
Interested Guyanese must have a minimum of two years of experience in the field.
The hires are set to further boost Saipem’s local workforce, in the spirit of local content.
The company has one of Guyana’s largest offshore construction facilities, opened to offset the increasing demand for fabrication services in the country’s oil and gas sector.
Saipem is one of the main contractors of Stabroek Block operator, ExxonMobil. It installed the subsea, umbilicals, risers, and flowlines (SURF) for the development of Liza Phases 1 and 2 projects and is progressing works for the Payara Development.
Saipem was also recently awarded a multi-billion-dollar contract for Exxon’s fifth Stabroek Block development – Uaru.
The contract scope includes the design, fabrication and installation of subsea structures, risers, flowlines and umbilicals for a large subsea production facility.
