Deodat Indar reelected to 2nd term as GCCI president; promises renewed push for Guyanese businesses in O&G

Deodat Indar was on Thursday reelected to serve a second term as President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI).

The business group held its 128th Annual General Meeting at the Roraima Duke Lodge in Guyana’s capital Georgetown on March 29 where 21 Councilors were elected out of a total of 50 nominees. The Council held its first Statutory Meeting on Thursday, April 5, to elect from its body a new Executive Management Committee (EMC) for the year 2018/2019. The new EMC is composed of a President, Senior Vice-President, Junior Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer.

Mr. Indar told OilNOW following the election of the new EMC that he will continue to focus heavily on the development of a robust local content framework that would allow Guyanese businesses to maximize benefits from the oil and gas industry. “I will continue to push heavily for Guyanese businesses to benefit from and capitalize on the growing opportunities in the country’s emerging oil and gas industry. GCCI looks forward to working closely with all stakeholders over the next year to ensure we are ready for first oil, and beyond.”

The 128th AGM was well attended by members of the business group which saw nominations at an all-time high.
