Development drilling is progressing at the Yellowtail well site in the Stabroek Block offshore Guyana, according to a notice from the country’s Maritime Administration (MARAD).
A March 28 notice said that “Esso Exploration & Production Guyana Ltd (EEPGL) will continue developmental drilling operations at YT_1i08 Well Site within the Stabroek Block of Guyana’s Exclusive Economic Zone.”
The well site is situated approximately 105.9 nautical miles (196.2 kilometers) off the Coast of Guyana and covers an area of 0.29 square nautical miles (1 square kilometer).
The drilling activities are being conducted by the MODU Noble Sam Croft with the support of 28 vessels. It is expected to conclude on April 30.
The vessel for the Yellowtail project – ONE GUYANA – recently entered dry dock at the Keppel shipyard in Singapore.
The vessel is being designed to produce 250,000 barrels of oil per day, with an associated gas treatment capacity of 450 million cubic feet per day and water injection capacity of 300,000 barrels per day. The floater will be spread-moored in water depth of about 1,800 meters and will be able to store around two million barrels of crude oil.
The Yellowtail project will consist of drilling approximately 40 to 76 development wells.
