The ‘ONE GUYANA’ floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel will be, not only the highest producing floater offshore Guyana, but also the highest producing FPSO to be delivered by SBM Offshore.

ONE GUYANA is designed to produce 250,000 barrels of crude per day (b/d). The vessel recently entered drydock at the Keppel Shipyard in Singapore.

Brazil’s Almirante Tamandare is second at 225,000 b/d, while Guyana’s Liza Unity and Prosperity are tied in third place. The high production levels of Guyana’s FPSOs reflect the policy of Stabroek Block operator ExxonMobil, to maximise crude output, consistent with the Guyana government’s depletion policy.

SBM Offshore’s annual report indicates that 20 FPSOs have been delivered or are under construction for production in deepwater and ultra deepwater environments. SBM Offshore categorises deepwater as 500-1,500 metres (m) and ultra deepwater as >1,500 m. The four FPSOs SBM Offshore was contracted to deliver to Guyana are all among the 13 FPSOs destined for ultra deep projects.

Apart from Guyana and Brazil, the 20 vessels’ destined jurisdictions include Angola, Malaysia, Equatorial Guinea, and the United States of America.

ONE GUYANA is expected to be delivered to Guyana for first oil in 2025. SBM Offshore already delivered Liza Destiny and Unity, which are producing a collective 380,000 b/d offshore Guyana. The Prosperity floater is on its way to Guyana, and is expected to arrive in April. It will lift Guyana’s output to 600,000 b/d. When ONE GUYANA comes on, Exxon’s combined production in Guyana is expected to be elevated above 850,000 b/d. By then, Guyana will be the world’s largest producer of crude per capita.

ExxonMobil plans to take production offshore Guyana above 1.2 million b/d by 2027.

ExxonMobil is the operator of the Stabroek Block, with a 45% stake. Hess (30%) and CNOOC (25%) are its partners.
