SBM Offshore has issued a cautionary advisory to the public regarding deceptive activities carried out under its name by an unauthorised organisation. SBM Offshore, known for its commitment to safety and consumer protection, uncovered an alarming case in which an entity named “SBM Offshore Incorporated” had been exploiting the company’s legitimate business name for dubious purposes.

In a statement, SBM Offshore said the fraudulent organisation had set up a website with the domain www.sbmosi.ch, falsely claiming association with SBM Offshore and operating from the company’s address in Marly, Switzerland. The website promoted investment advisory and financial services, leading unsuspecting individuals and businesses to believe they were engaging with SBM Offshore Group.

SBM Offshore also found that there might be additional websites misusing the company’s details, potentially with variations like “www.sbmfos.ch.

SBM Offshore unequivocally stated that it does not provide investment advisory or financial services. Therefore, any affiliation between its business name, brands, and such services should be viewed as illegitimate and treated with skepticism.

“SBM Offshore takes this matter seriously and is actively working with the appropriate agencies and regulators to address the situation…Together, we can take steps to prevent further harm,” the company’s statement outlined.

SBM Offshore Group is urging the public to be cautious and exercise due diligence.

It has requested the suspension of the deceptive website, www.sbmosi.ch, and advises individuals to report any suspicious activity directly through the company’s official channels, which can be found on its website.

About a month ago, the company said it was alerted to potential recruitment scams which involved sharing job offers from SBM Offshore. These scams involve sending job offers through unofficial email addresses, such as: [email protected].

“At SBM Offshore, we follow a specific process to contact potential candidates while ensuring data protection and security. We utilize a dedicated platform where you can apply for our job opening at ‘careers.sbmoffshore.com‘ or through the official SBM Offshore LinkedIn page, and we send emails from the following domain address @sbmoffshore.com,” the company had stated.
