Chamber to host ‘largest ever’ trade delegation from Guyana to Suriname

The Suriname Guyana Chamber of Commerce (SGCC) will host its inaugural trade delegation from Guyana to Suriname for the period June 5-9, 2024. It will include over 50 representatives from 23 companies, marking the largest such event to date, a May 30 release said. The SGCC said it aims to strengthen business ties and collaboration between Suriname and Guyana.

The delegation features members from 22 Guyanese companies and one Trinidadian company, including:

Guyana-Suriname basin to add almost one million barrels per day to global oil supply | OilNOW 

According to the release, the event will feature nearly 100 business-to-business meetings between Surinamese and Guyanese companies, offering a unique platform for networking and collaboration. Highlights include a dedicated networking session, interactions with the Curaçao mission, and a meeting with the Vereniging Surinaams Bedrijfsleven (VSB) and the Suriname Investment & Trade Agency.

The SGCC will also participate in the Suriname Energy, Oil, and Gas Summit (SEOGS), showcasing companies from both nations. Suriname will be represented by Optiek Ninon, Optimum Enterprises, RCFA Accountants and Tax Advisors, SOGLASS, Loyals Caribbean, and Creative Tech Hub Caribbean. Guyana will be represented by Quality Deliverer, M. Sookhai & Co., International SOS, and Ardant Solutions from Trinidad and Tobago. The sectors represented include construction, tourism, transportation, finance, consultancy, oil and gas, logistics, agriculture, auto parts, and ICT.

Additionally, the SGCC will lead a seminar titled “Guyana in Focus,” discussing ways to enhance trade relations and promote the upcoming International Business Conference in Guyana, scheduled for October 15-17, 2024.

Support for the mission will come from the Guyana Office for Investment. Chief Investment Officer Dr. Peter Ramsaroop is expected to address SEOGS delegates on Thursday, June 6. His office will provide technical assistance and share best practices with the Suriname Investment & Trade Agency as both countries work to strengthen their relations.
