ExxonMobil intends to purchase the Liza Destiny and Prosperity floating production storage and offloading vessels (FPSOs) from SBM Offshore, the shipbuilder reported in its half-year earnings.
SBM Offshore said both purchases are expected in the “second half of 2024, ahead of the end of the maximum lease terms in November 2025 and December 2029 respectively.”
Liza Destiny started producing oil on December 20, 2019. In 2021, the Destiny was ranked fourth among the top five highest-scoring units for safety in SBM Offshore’s global fleet.
The Prosperity FPSO design is based on SBM Offshore’s Fast4Ward® programme that incorporates the company’s new build, multi-purpose hull combined with several standardised topside modules.
Exxon already purchased the Liza Unity FPSO. The transaction was completed in November 2023.
All three vessels are operating in Guyana’s Stabroek Block with combined output of more than 600,000 barrels of oil per day.
