Exploration drilling continues at ExxonMobil’s Haimara-3 well in Guyana’s Stabroek Block. The campaign is being undertaken by the Stena DrillMAX rig.

Guyana’s Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) said activities will conclude on November 1 at the site, situated approximately 123.3 nautical miles (228.4 kilometers) off the coast and covers an area of 0.29 square nautical miles (1 square kilometer).

This site is one of two appraisal wells focused on the Haimara gas field, discovered five years ago.

Haimara-1, Exxon’s 12th discovery in the Stabroek Block, was announced in February 2019. The well revealed around 207 feet (63 meters) of high-quality, gas-condensate-bearing sandstone reservoir. This notable find suggested a promising new development area, with potential for collaboration across the nearby Suriname border.

The Stabroek Block is operated by ExxonMobil with a 45% stake, with co-venturers Hess (30%) and CNOOC (25%). Exxon has discovered 11.6 billion barrels of oil equivalent since its first commercial find in 2015.
