ExxonMobil, Chevron, Shell, BP, and Eni are among 27 companies that have submitted bids for Guyana’s crude marketing contract.

ExxonMobil is the operator of the Stabroek Block where all crude production offshore Guyana is currently being executed. This includes the Liza 1, Liza 2, and Payara projects. The existing contracts for marketing crude from these projects are nearing expiration. At present, BB Energy is responsible for marketing the crude from Liza 2 and Payara, while JE Energy markets the crude from Liza 1. These crudes are typically sold in cargoes of one million barrels each. The new contracts need to be awarded in time for the new marketer(s) to take up the responsibility in November for a one-year period.

The marketers were invited to bid on one or more of the oil developments, allowing the possibility of either a single marketer being selected to market all the crude, or multiple, depending on the evaluation of the bids. Notably, Sispro Inc., a new Guyanese firm that won two oil blocks in Guyana’s first offshore auction, is among the bidders.
