MODEC Guyana Inc. is seeking qualified suppliers to provide annual recertification and maintenance services for a critical safety component known as the frog basket, used on floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) units.

A frog basket is a personnel transfer device designed for safely lifting workers between vessels or platforms and FPSOs. Regular inspections ensure the equipment remains in optimal working condition and adheres to health and safety regulations.

MODEC said the scope of work includes annual inspections, issuance of deficiency reports if needed, and recertification of the frog basket as per manufacturer instructions. The inspection process also requires compliance with MODEC’s Health, Safety, and Engineering standards. The vendor is expected to ensure equipment is well-maintained and adapted to the intended use.

To participate, potential suppliers must meet several key requirements, including at least five years of experience with FPSO-related lifting equipment inspections, qualified personnel, and relevant permits. Offices in Georgetown, Guyana, are also a requirement.

This RFI comes as MODEC plays a growing role in Guyana’s booming oil and gas sector, with ExxonMobil hiring the company to deliver the Errea Wittu FPSO for the fifth development in the Stabroek Block.

The Errea Wittu will handle production from the Snoek, Mako, and Uaru fields, targeting an initial output of 250,000 barrels per day. The project is expected to begin oil production in 2026.
