MODEC seeks subcontractor for industrial gas supply in Guyana

MODEC Guyana Inc. has announced that it is seeking a subcontractor to provide industrial gas supply services for its operations in Guyana. The company said the subcontractor will be responsible for ensuring high standards of material quality, supply reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.

According to MODEC, the scope of work includes supplying industrial gases, cylinders, and accessories for use on its floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) units. The subcontractor will also manage delivery scheduling, quality assurance through certificates and technical documentation, logistics support to the onshore material base, and maintenance of all records.

MODEC stated that the industrial gases will be used across multiple FPSO systems and applications. These include portable gas detector bump calibration, laboratory operations, HVAC systems, flare pilot operations, welding activities, charging of systems, in-line gas chromatographs, and fire and gas detection systems.

The company said that all supplied gases must meet the specific requirements of each application to support safe and efficient operations. Activities must also comply with MODEC procedures, authority requirements, and quality assurance standards.

MODEC listed the required supply as including calibration gas cylinders, helium, carbon dioxide, refrigerant gases (R513A, R449A), oxygen, acetylene, argon, nitrogen, methane mixtures, hydrogen calibration gas, calibration gases for analyzers, standard gas mixtures, HS calibration gas, CO calibration gas, and gas cylinders.

ExxonMobil hired MODEC to deliver the Errea Wittu FPSO for the Uaru project offshore Guyana through an engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract in 2023. 

The Errea Wittu will be the fifth FPSO deployed offshore Guyana, boosting total oil production to over 1.1 million barrels per day.
