“The GranMorgu project is progressing as planned,” Staatsolie said in the update. “Drilling of production and injection wells, along with subsea infrastructure installation, is scheduled to begin in 2027. First oil is expected in 2028.”
The FPSO is designed to produce about 220,000 barrels of oil per day and will support oil production and associated gas processing. The vessel will be all-electric and designed with zero routine flaring. All associated gas will be reinjected into the reservoirs to limit emissions.

SBM Offshore has been contracted to build, install, and operate the GranMorgu FPSO under a multi-year operations and maintenance agreement. The contract makes SBM Offshore the first FPSO operator in Suriname.
Block 58 is operated by TotalEnergies, which holds a 50% interest alongside APA Corporation with the remaining 50%. Staatsolie has exercised its option to take up to a 20% stake in the GranMorgu development.
