Vessel to push Guyana oil production past 1 million bpd weeks away from arriving

The Errea Wittu floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel is currently in West African water on its voyage to Guyana’s Stabroek Block, vessel tracking data shows. 

Marine Traffic placed the FPSO in the region after it departed Singapore in June. Separate automatic identification system data published by VesselFinder provides an estimated arrival date of August 20. That estimate is subject to changes in the Errea Wittu’s speed, route or operating schedule. 

Uaru targets more than 800 million barrels of recoverable oil. The US$12.7 billion project will feature up to 10 drill centers and 44 wells. It is designed to produce 250,000 barrels of oil per day. This will add to the current daily output of more than 900,000 bpd, pushing Guyana’s total production beyond the one million bpd mark.

Japanese contractor MODEC constructed the FPSO for the development. The unit will process and store crude from the Uaru field once operations begin.

The FPSO will feature two key upgrades in its design; a combined-cycle gas turbine will supply power more efficiently and with lower greenhouse gas emissions and a closed-loop flare system will limit emissions during operations.
