The Stena Carron is carrying out exploration drilling at the Rockhead-1 prospect in Guyana’s Stabroek Block.
According to a recent notice from the Maritime Administration Department (MARAD), drilling activities will conclude on August 31.

“The Rockhead-1 is situated approximately 115.2 nautical miles (213.4 kilometers) off the
Coast of Guyana and covers an area of 0.29 square nautical miles (1 square kilometer),” the notice said.
Exxon has confirmed that the prospect is an oil target, noting “Rockhead-1 is targeting oil, though fluids are often difficult to predict pre-drill.”

ExxonMobil is the operator of the Stabroek Block with a 45% stake. Its co-venturers are Hess (owned by Chevron) and CNOOC. So far, the operator has discovered 11 billion barrels of oil equivalent, concentrated in the southeastern section of the block.
