Baker Hughes has secured a major subsea contract to supply production equipment for the Kutei Northern Hub, an offshore natural gas development in Indonesia.
The energy technology company announced the award on August 10 from Searah North Ganal Limited, a subsidiary of Searah Limited, a joint venture between Eni and PETRONAS.
Under the contract, Baker Hughes will provide 17 deepwater horizontal subsea trees, along with manifolds, connections, control systems and distribution equipment. The package will support the development of the Geng North and Gehem gas fields.
The company will also deploy its Cordant asset protection and condition monitoring systems. The technology is designed to identify equipment risks early and reduce unplanned downtime during subsea operations.

The Kutei Northern Hub is being developed to supply natural gas for Indonesia’s domestic market and liquefied natural gas (LNG) operations.

Baker Hughes will manufacture the subsea trees at its Global Manufacturing Center for Subsea Trees in Batam. Its Balikpapan facility will provide additional operational and service support.
The company expects its Indonesian manufacturing and service network to support supply chain resilience and project delivery as the development progresses.
The award builds on Baker Hughes’ involvement in the project. In 2025, the company secured an order for flash gas compressors for the Kutei Northern Hub’s new floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel.

The FPSO is designed to process more than 1 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day and 90,000 barrels of condensate per day. It will have storage capacity of 1.4 million barrels.
The Kutei Northern Hub is centered on the recently discovered Geng North field and the Gehem field and is intended to support Indonesia’s growing gas and liquefied natural gas requirements.
