ExxonMobil has awarded Noble Corporation an additional 4.8 rig years of backlog under the Commercial Enabling Agreement (CEA) in Guyana, the drilling expert said on Sept. 4 in its fleet report.

This extends the contracts of four Noble drillships—Noble Tom Madden, Noble Sam Croft, Noble Don Taylor, and Noble Bob Douglas—from June 2027 to August 2028.

Exxon is the operator of the Stabroek Block in Guyana, where it has made over 30 commercial petroleum discoveries.

Noble’s operations in Guyana, primarily tied to the Stabroek Block, generated US$703 million in revenue in 2023, making up 27% of the company’s total earnings. This follows a notable increase from US$469 million in 2022, when Guyana accounted for a third of Noble’s total revenue.

Noble’s merger with Maersk Drilling last year positioned the company as a leader in offshore drilling, with a young and advanced fleet. It recently acquired Diamond Offshore.
