Ampelmann has added Guyana as a new market to its global portfolio. In a contract with Dutch floater specialist SBM Offshore, the company assisted the hook-up and commissioning of the FPSO Liza Destiny, currently spread moored offshore Guyana producing oil for US oil major ExxonMobil.

“Our first project in Guyana is a great achievement for us,” said Floris Brands, Business Development Manager Americas at Ampelmann. “We thank SBM Offshore for their repeated trust in our services as we aim to bring high workability and the highest possible safety standards to the region.”

For the campaign, an Ampelmann E-type system was mobilised on the Normand Installer vessel, to allow personnel to easily access the FPSO. Operations took place about 200km away from shore in deep waters. The E-type is perfectly suited for the conditions as it has an outstanding track record and can fully compensate vessel motions in wave heights up to 4.5m Hs.

The system enabled close to 10,000 safe personnel transfers to and from the FPSO throughout the duration of the project.

The Liza Destiny FPSO began producing oil offshore Guyana last December.
