Guyana’s Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo said April 27 that the review of the field development plan for the Liza project has been completed, to give effect to the Gas-to-Energy (GTE) project.
“The field development plan for Liza has been completed and that is the plan that would allow for the extension for at least 20 years for that project, so that you’d have gas supply for at least 20 years,” he said during a press conference.
The GTE project is set to come on stream by 2024 but Dr. Jagdeo had explained that the Liza permit will expire in 2037. Since the project lifespan is 20 years, the extension needed to be granted to 2044.
The UK-based Bayphase helped Guyana with ExxonMobil’s proposed amendments to its Liza development to accommodate the GTE project. This will be followed by a revision of the Liza production license.
The granting of this amended license will remove the final stop in the way of the Stabroek Block co-venturers making a final investment decision (FID) on the project.
