British energy giant bp is advancing projects to lower the carbon footprint of energy production while maintaining global oil and gas supply, according to key disclosures in its recently published Sustainability Report.

The company reported oil and gas production of approximately 2.3 million barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2025, slightly down from 2.4 million b/d in 2024. Upstream plant reliability reached 96.1%, reflecting stable operations across its producing assets.

Additionally, seven major projects were brought online in 2025, compared with one project in 2024, indicating a significant increase in upstream project start-ups, the company reported..

bp said its investments in carbon capture and storage (CCS), hydrogen, and operational efficiency are meant to reduce emissions from its oil and gas operations. The report stated that these CCS and hydrogen investments are expected to support bp’s net-zero operations goal.

According to the report, the company has refined its hydrogen strategy to focus on projects where regulatory frameworks and market demand support development.

“We have high-graded and focused our hydrogen portfolio, prioritizing projects in jurisdictions where there is an adequate regulatory framework, and where we have access to value chain opportunities, whether our own demand or through customer demand.”

bp has a sustained presence in the Caribbean, specifically in Trinidad and Tobago, and in Brazil

bp Trinidad and Tobago (bpTT) confirmed in April 2025 that its Cypre development has safely delivered first gas. Cypre is one of bp’s 10 major projects scheduled to come online between 2025 and 2027 as part of its strategy to grow upstream production. The project, which is tied back to the existing Juniper platform, is expected to reach a peak production of approximately 45,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed).

BP is targeting a combined peak net production of 250,000 boed from the 10 new major upstream projects worldwide, expected to come online between 2025 and 2027.
