ExxonMobil Guyana Limited is seeking qualified consultants to support its ongoing environmental and socioeconomic assessments through a new services agreement. The consultants will be tasked with monitoring, assessing, and managing environmental and social risks related to the company’s offshore and onshore activities, according to a public request for information.

Exxon said it has been conducting environmental studies throughout 2024 to assess the state of Guyana’s environment, along with the needs of local communities. These studies include monitoring coastal and marine biodiversity, fisheries, emissions, and cultural heritage sites.
Consultants will be required to develop technical proposals, conduct biodiversity assessments, model emissions and discharges, and create environmental and social management plans. The scope of work also includes socioeconomic studies on traffic, livelihoods, and public health.

Exxon expects consultants to help develop stakeholder engagement plans and support public and regulatory meetings. Additionally, they must identify environmental mitigation measures and provide training to stakeholders, including government agencies.
The listed services will support Exxon’s offshore operations in the Stabroek Block, including oil production, seismic acquisition, drilling, and onshore support activities.
Exxon holds a 45% interest in the block. Hess holds 30%, while CNOOC holds a 25% interest.
