ExxonMobil Guyana is actively seeking the services of a Guyanese contractor for the construction of a critical access road to its Ogle operations centre, currently under construction. In a bid to streamline the selection process, the company has recently issued a Request for Information (RFI) that states its requirements for civil works and road construction services.
The main aim of this RFI is to help Exxon identify qualified suppliers capable of providing the necessary civil works, which could encompass a wide range of projects. From constructing roundabouts and bus shelters to building approaches and culverts, the company is keen on finding a supplier with a diverse skillset to meet its specific needs.
At the heart of this project is ExxonMobil Guyana’s new operating base in Ogle, East Coast Demerara, where an offshore command centre is currently under construction. This new facility is expected to bring significant enhancements to Exxon’s capabilities in the country, with a price tag of approximately US$160 million. Once complete, it will be a focal point for the company’s operations in Guyana, with the capacity to accommodate over 500 people.

According to ExxonMobil Guyana President, Alistair Routledge, the company is on track to complete the command centre by April 2024. Mr. Routledge has explained that the need for a reliable and professionally built access road is paramount for the success of the new operations centre.
ExxonMobil needs the operations centre to manage its expanding offshore operations. The company is about to embark on a 35-well Stabroek Block exploration and appraisal campaign while spearheading five sanctioned oil developments with line of sight on more, in the coming years.
