Geophysical and seismic surveying will continue for the remainder of 2026 in Guyana’s Stabroek Block, up until December 31.
According to a notice from the Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) on February 2, the operation will involve the SV Fugro Brasilis. This is a specialised survey vessel that will display internationally recognised signals indicating it is engaged in surveying operations.
The survey area lies approximately 76.3 nautical miles (141.31 kilometres) offshore Guyana and spans 708.9 square nautical miles (about 2,431 square kilometres) within the Block.

Mariners and offshore operators are hereby notified of the planned activities within Guyana’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
Geophysical and seismic surveys are critical to offshore petroleum operations, providing data used to map subsurface geology, identify hydrocarbon prospects, and support future exploration and development planning.
MARAD has urged vessels operating in the vicinity to exercise caution and observe standard maritime safety protocols while the survey program is underway.
