ExxonMobil Guyana Limited (EMGL) will host a virtual meeting with local vendors on August 19 to discuss its contracting activity and procurement procedures, according to a notice issued by the company.

The feedback session, scheduled to run from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., will review Requests for Information (RFIs) issued between July and December 2024, provide an overview of EMGL’s procurement process, and address invoicing requirements. Vendors will also have an opportunity to offer feedback and ask questions during the session.

Registration opened last Friday and will close on August 17. Interested participants are required to register online or contact EMGL’s representative via email. Questions for the session must also be submitted by August 17, the notice said.

ExxonMobil is the operator of Guyana’s prolific Stabroek Block, where it has made more than 30 commercial oil discoveries since 2015. Oil production began in December 2019 and continues to ramp up, driving increased demand for local goods and services.

ExxonMobil and its contractors invest heftily in local content in Guyana. They have increased their spending on Guyanese suppliers from US$23 million in 2017 to US$641 million in 2023, averaging 80% annual growth, the company’s 2023 annual report indicated. The most significant jumps came after the Local Content Act was passed in late 2021, with local spend rising 89% in 2022 and 63% in 2023.
