President of ExxonMobil’s Upstream company, Dan Ammann, said Guyana stands apart globally, calling it “perhaps the most exceptional energy development anywhere in the world”.

He made the statement at today’s opening of the Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo, where he addressed government officials, industry leaders and partners, including President Irfaan Ali.

Ammann said his global oversight gives him a clear basis for comparison.

“…from that kind of point, I can say very confidently that Guyana is perhaps the most exceptional energy development anywhere in the world.” He said the distinction is tied not only to the offshore resource base but to execution and national impact.

“Not only is the scale of the resource offshore, but how it’s being developed, how it’s being managed, and importantly, what it is enabling onshore today,” he added.

Ammann pointed to visible economic and social expansion across the country, including infrastructure, services and workforce development. He also linked Guyana’s rise to global energy demand growth. He said Guyana is positioned to help meet that demand while advancing domestic prosperity.

Ammann also referenced operational performance in the Stabroek Block, noting rapid build-out since first discovery.

“…we’ve built a multi-project production system with four floating production, storage and offloading vessels producing and several more under development and a record of delivery ahead of schedule and under budget,” he added.  He also noted that a strong partnership has been central to that outcome.

“Many [jurisdictions] important, very few are truly exceptional. Guyana is exceptional,” he said.

ExxonMobil is the operator of Guyana’s Stabroek Block.
