Deputy General Manager of the Guyana Shore Base, Rabin Chandarpaul was happy to report that the facility touched another safety milestone, hitting 1,000 days without any lost time incidents.
Lost time incidents are accidents that occur when a worker sustains a lost-time injury (LTI) that results in time off from work or loss of productive work (absenteeism or delays). Lost time injuries impact team morale, but also carry costs associated with downtime, compliance, and workers’ compensation.
“GYSBI’s performance record to date is off the charts. Our operations are a testament to investment infrastructure, best-in-class equipment, and the necessary maintenance and expertise and management systems to upkeep them,” he shared.
GYSBI provides services for the oil and gas industry in Guyana. It is currently the country’s premier shore base supplying a range of integrated services.
It supports a range of clients across its 140-acre development, with highly trained staff, and services compliant with international standards and best practices. It has also been dedicated to the recruitment, development, and retention of Guyanese talent.
According to Chandarpaul, 95% of GYSBI’s 700+ staff-compliment are Guyanese.
The company has planned a massive expansion, pegged somewhere around nine figures. It secured a US$10 million bridge loan from NCB Merchant Bank out of Trinidad and Tobago to finance this.
And just recently, it commissioned its heavy lift berths and “Commander in Chief” Crane.
