As the local business community in South America’s newest oil and gas hotspot continue to position itself for growing opportunities in the emerging petroleum industry, efforts are being made to ensure participation in the country’s largest oil conference is maximised.

The second edition of the Guyana International Petroleum Exhibition (GIPEX) is set to take place on November 20-22 at the Guyana Marriot Hotel.

“We look forward to having our members participate in the second edition of GIPEX – there are already a number of members who are registered – and we are working on having more members register for the event,” Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (GCCI) Executive Director, Richard Rambarran, told the media at a press conference held on Friday to launch GIPEX 2019.

Rambarran said the Chamber is hopeful that its membership will be able to make meaningful business connections at the signature event where a number of international companies in the petroleum industry will be participating.

GIPEX 2018 saw involvement from more than 600 delegates and well over 175 companies, several of which are big-name corporations in the world of oil and gas.

ExxonMobil Guyana continues to be a strategic partner for the event.

Meanwhile, President of the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM Guyana), Zulfikar Ally, recently told OilNOW the promotion of Guyana as an investment destination of choice will continue to be a top priority of AMCHAM.

“We believe that it is important for the Private Sector to play a leading and pivotal role in showcasing investment and trade opportunities to the rest of the world at this crucial time in our development,” Ally said.

GIPEX 2019 is being organized by Valiant Business Media (VBM) in partnership with the Government of Guyana through the Department of Energy (DE), Ministry of the Presidency, with support from the Guyana Office for Investment (GO-Invest).
