Halliburton concluded its first-ever Student Hackathon at the Suriname Energy, Oil & Gas Summit (SEOGS) 2025, highlighting emerging talent and digital innovation in the oil and gas sector. The event brought together university students from across Suriname to address real-world energy challenges using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML).
“This initiative reflects Halliburton’s long-standing commitment to local content and capacity building,” the company said after the event. As Halliburton marks 40 years of operations in Suriname, it reaffirmed its dedication to training, mentorship, and job creation in the industry.

The Hackathon was hosted in partnership with Global Event Partners (GEP), Anton de Kom University, and the student chapters of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). It offered students a hands-on experience in exploring energy solutions using cutting-edge digital tools.
Participants used Halliburton’s DS365.ai platform, a cloud-based solution for developing and managing AI/ML models tailored to upstream workflows. The platform offers tools for model development, version control, no-code workflows, and a marketplace of prebuilt models.
DS365.ai is part of Halliburton’s broader digital strategy to promote open innovation through the Open Earth Community, a collaborative hub connecting geoscientists, engineers, and data experts.
