Dear Editor,
It is quite unfortunate that on a day as significant as May 26, our Independence, we were forced to celebrate such an accomplishment in complete darkness, in some parts of the country.
While blackouts have seemingly become the norm in Guyana, should we truly accept this as our reality? I refuse to. This is why I am eagerly awaiting the operationalisation of the Gas-to-Energy project.
Not only does it promise to slash electricity costs by up to 50%, but it also offers real hope of ending our ongoing blackout woes. From its inception, this project has had my full support.
As a Guyanese who has spent 42 years on this earth, it would be truly remarkable to witness how this initiative transforms our country’s energy supply and brings much-needed relief to our people.
Sincerely,
Renita Simon
