As an aspiring cricketer and proud Guyanese, I’m excited to see how the Guyana Super League (GSL) is not only reigniting our love for cricket but also redefining what it means to celebrate Caribbean culture.

GSL was launched last year, right after the Caribbean Premier League competition, and provided an additional space for the Guyana Amazon Warriors to shine. The GSL represents a powerful step forward for our economy. By drawing regional and international attention, it boosts local businesses, energizes the tourism sector, and showcases Guyana as a premier destination for sports and entertainment. Thanks to ExxonMobil Guyana’s continued support towards sports in Guyana, this year’s GSL is shaping up to be more than just a tournament—it’s a cultural experience bringing together some of the biggest names in the Caribbean for an unforgettable experience.

Outside of ExxonMobil’s support to these large events, they are also actively supporting youth development through sports. Initiatives like the Future Warriors Tournament and the Champions of Champions competition are empowering young athletes, not only with opportunities to play but with leadership, teamwork, and mentorship that could shape their futures far beyond the pitch.

It’s encouraging to see the major oil businesses in our economy extending their impact beyond petroleum by investing in initiatives that bring Guyanese communities together and celebrate our shared identity.
