Guyana’s fourth annual Local Content Summit will place practical business concerns at the center of this year’s agenda, with proposed changes to local content legislation, financing, workforce development, and supplier readiness among the main areas for discussion.
The summit is set for June 2-3, 2026, at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel. It will be held under the theme “From Policy to Prosperity. Unlocking Opportunities Through Collaboration.”
President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the opening plenary. OilNOW returns as the official media partner.
This year’s forum will bring together government ministers, oil and gas industry leaders, private sector representatives, business support organizations, and current and potential suppliers.
Organizers said the agenda was designed to address practical advocacy issues affecting companies seeking to enter or expand within Guyana’s oil and gas sector. Those issues include the proposed changes to the Local Content Act, the financial ecosystem needed to support local participation, and the workforce systems required to meet industry demand.
The summit will also feature sessions aimed at giving suppliers a clearer understanding of industry needs and available opportunities.
A key focus will be the wider impact of local content beyond oil and gas. Organizers said the discussions will examine untapped and emerging investment opportunities in sectors that support petroleum operations.
The program includes targeted presentations and roundtable discussions. These sessions are intended to give attendees practical direction on how to navigate common challenges faced by businesses operating in, or seeking to enter, the sector.
The Local Content Summit is organized by Abigail Loncke-Watson, Chief Executive Officer of MBW, and Anita Ramprasad, Chief Executive Officer of Prestige Management Consultants.
Organizers said the event is rooted in collaboration between the government and the local private sector. They also noted that it is a joint venture between two 100% Guyanese women-owned companies.
Sponsors for this year’s summit include MODEC, Bono Energy, Sispro, Gulf Engineering, Baker Hughes, Noble Corporation, Stena Drilling, Suregig, Action Invest, and the Centre for Local Business Development.
Organizers said opportunities remain available for additional sponsors.
