The semi-submersible rig Maersk Developer earlier this month spudded the Sloanea-1 well in Suriname on the same day the Mærsk Discoverer began operations at the Matapal development in Trinidad and Tobago (T&T).

“Earlier this month, Maersk Developer spudded the Sloanea1 well offshore Suriname for our customer Petronas on the exact same date that Maersk Discoverer also started operations offshore Trinidad and Tobago,” the company on Wednesday.

The Sloanea-1 prospect is located in Block 52 which is north of the coast of Paramaribo, Suriname’s capital city while Matapal is a new offshore gas project being developed off the coast of T&T, in a water depth of more than 500ft.

“During 2020, Team Developer has successfully finished a drilling campaign, performed crew changes in four different countries, and completed acceptance tests for two major operators,” Maersk said. “All despite the challenges imposed by a global pandemic and thanks to the amazing efforts of our people offshore and onshore.”
