After a lull of more than a year for staging oil and gas conferences and exhibitions in Guyana due to the pandemic, several events are being planned, beginning in Q1 2022, that will see a mixture of in-person and virtual formats being used for these activities. Since March 2020, these events have been limited primarily to a virtual setting.
Both the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and the Guyana Oil & Gas Energy Chamber (GOGEC) have said they are looking at February 2022 to organise what will be one of the first major oil and gas conferences of the year.
OilNOW understands GCCI and GOGEC plan to collaborate for the staging of the Guyana Energy Conference and Exhibition (GEC-X).
In a statement last week, GCCI said GEC-X, which will be held under the theme, “Powering the Future”, aims to move the energy discussion beyond oil and gas. The conference is intended to bring together foreign and local investors and government decision makers in productive engagements to seek collaborations that will lead to transformative energy projects.
In its own statement, GOGEC said the Conference will focus on Guyana’s energy transition agenda in keeping with its energy targets that are also linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
GOGEC said it is also cognizant of the pandemic and therefore, the event will be facilitated by way of a blend of both virtual and in-person sessions.
Meanwhile, another group is planning to stage the International Energy Conference and Exhibition- Guyana 2022, slated for February 15-18. According to a press release, the event is intended to be a staple in the calendar in Guyana and will attract senior executives and CEOs from major international oil and gas companies, local and international government officials, procurement personnel from oil and gas companies, and academia. The organisers said the event will also provide valuable networking opportunities for delegates which will result in new business opportunities. There will also be a tradeshow element that will run alongside the event that will attract local, regional and international exhibitors. The last day of the event will incorporate tours of national attractions for delegates. According to the organisers, the conference and exhibition will be held in-person with an option for delegates to log in virtually given the pandemic restrictions. They said a draft agenda with further details will be launched in the coming weeks.
