ExxonMobil Guyana has announced another round of public meetings earmarked for the Guyana coast, as it pursues environmental authorisation for the Uaru development project.

This time, the meetings will raise awareness about the findings of the recently completed Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).

There will be eight in-person meetings during the period February 20 – March 1, 2023. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will be in attendance.

The field development plan is also being reviewed by the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Uaru is the fifth project being pursued by ExxonMobil, with an estimated development cost of US$12.7 billion. ExxonMobil Guyana is hopeful for approval within the quarter.

Oil production rate is set at 250,000 barrels per day (bpd). The floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel will have storage capacity of two million barrels of stabilised crude; and will be able to offload approximately one million barrels onto a tanker in a period of approximately 24 hours. The project is expected to produce crude for at least 20 years, starting late 2026/early 2027.
