Subsea 7 has initiated a hunt for suitable firms to collaborate in support of its pipelaying activities for Guyana’s Gas-to-Energy project. The project, a significant endeavour for the South American nation, aims to harness its natural gas resources to generate clean and sustainable energy for domestic consumption.

Guyana’s Gas-to-Energy project revolves around the extraction and processing of natural gas discovered off the country’s coastline. The project’s primary goal is to capitalise on the resource to significantly reduce its reliance on heavy fuel oil while boosting its energy independence and economic prospects.

Subsea 7, one of the two companies entrusted with the crucial task of pipelaying for the project, has recently issued several public Expressions of Interest (EOIs) in a bid to find capable partners and suppliers that can contribute to the success of the venture. These EOIs detail various upcoming opportunities and requirements for the project, ranging from rigging inspection to the provision of essential supplies and equipment.

Here’s a breakdown of the services and supplies Subsea 7 is currently seeking:

  • Rigging inspection
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Welding, fitting, steel fabrication, and plate cutting
  • Argon, mixed welding gases (75/25 argon and co2 blend)
  • Containers (half heights, reefers, 20ft closed and open top containers, 40ft closed and open top containers, sludge tank)
  • Wire rope / soft slings
