Prior to this assignment, the Tom Madden rig had been conducting developmental drilling at the UA_4i02 Drill Center, part of ExxonMobil’s Uaru Project – also within the Stabroek Block.
The Whiptail development, operated by ExxonMobil in partnership with Hess and CNOOC, is slated to begin production in 2027. Once on stream, it is expected to produce 250,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, pushing Guyana’s total offshore output capacity beyond one million barrels per day.
SBM Offshore is constructing the floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel for Whiptail, while TechnipFMC has been contracted to supply the subsea production systems.
