The rapidly developing oil and gas sector in Guyana is increasing the need for enhanced infrastructure and new services. Responding to this demand, Avocat Guyana Holdings Inc. (AGHI) has proposed the creation of a chemical storage facility and laydown yard at Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara.

AGHI, a company experienced in real estate development in Trinidad and Tobago, decided to expand its scope. By partnering with Guyana Logistics and Support Services Inc. (GLASS), a full-service logistics company operating in Guyana since 2011, the duo envisages the establishment of a premier chemical storage facility and laydown yard.

AGHI has sought project authorisation from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which published on August 6, a project summary outlining a plan for its execution.

The initiative is structured in phases, with an initial investment of US$4 million earmarked for Block 1. Upon successful deployment, there are plans to replicate this model across three additional blocks. Once operational, this facility promises to serve Guyana’s offshore energy endeavors for over two decades, contingent on contract renewals.
