Salunda and Intellilift have achieved a milestone in offshore safety, installing the first real-time digital interface between wearable sensors, drilling controls, and moving machinery on four drilling rigs in Guyana.

Salunda’s Red Zone monitoring solutions were integrated with Intellilift’s digital platform on assets owned by a major offshore drilling contractor. Salunda, in a release, said the advanced system delivers automated location and control of equipment and personnel, providing instant alerts to workers in hazardous zones.

Alan Finlay, Salunda’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), described the collaboration as a “significant step in the evolution of offshore safety equipment,” adding that the integration ensures crews are “well protected during daily operations”.

The system combines Salunda’s CrewHawk technology with Intellilift’s automation platform to monitor worker and equipment locations in real time. Salunda’s proprietary Motion Trigger and Equipment Status (MTES) module streams precise data on machine movement, velocity, and status.

Intellilift’s CEO Stig Trydal emphasized the sector’s need for innovation, stating, “Our collaboration with Salunda exemplifies the potential of innovative companies to challenge larger players in technology and transparency.”

The deployment builds on an earlier partnership between Salunda and Intellilift, initiated in August 2024, aimed at enhancing safety and automation in well construction.

Salunda’s wearable and camera-based CrewHawk solution, certified by MET, IECEx, and ATEX, allows operators to establish perimeters around high-risk areas, track hazards, and generate heatmaps to improve safety practices.

This trailblazing initiative underscores the industry’s growing efforts to incorporate advanced digital tools into safety-critical offshore operations.
