BOURBON signed a five-year contract with ExxonMobil Guyana Limited to provide maritime support services from early 2026, the French offshore operator said on Wednesday.

The deal includes extension options and will deploy the large platform supply vessel Bourbon Calm to transport materials and chemicals for Exxon’s expanding offshore operations in Guyana, one of the world’s fastest growing crude basins.

BOURBON said the contract marks the first time a platform supply vessel in Guyana has been cleared to move chemicals in line with the OSV Chemical Code. The company made targeted upgrades to the ship’s pumping systems, tank-cleaning capabilities and operating procedures, following approval from maritime authorities and classification society DNV.

The company has supported Exxon’s offshore activities in Guyana since 2019 and said the new contract strengthens its position in the sector. Only a small number of offshore vessels globally are authorized to conduct chemical transport under the code, it added.

“This new contract illustrates ExxonMobil Guyana’s confidence in BOURBON’s ability to offer safe, innovative and economically efficient maritime solutions that comply with the highest regulatory standards,” BOURBON’s Chief Commercial Officer Karim Mebarek said.

Guyana’s economy has been rapidly transformed in recent years by large offshore oil discoveries. ExxonMobil and partners Hess and CNOOC made the discoveries in the Stabroek Block offshore Guyana, where production has already passed 900,000 barrels per day and is still expanding with new projects set to come online.
