The Errea Wittu floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel for the Uaru project offshore Guyana is on track for completion, and will set sail for Guyana later this year as scheduled, Alistair Routledge, ExxonMobil Guyana President, said today.

Speaking at a press conference on March 19 at ExxonMobil Guyana Limited’s campus in Ogle, East Coast Demerara, Routledge said the project is progressing well.

“The floating production, storage and offloading facility, the FPSO in Singapore, is almost complete,” he said. He said most of the major components are already in place: “The majority of all of the modules have been lifted onto the top sides.”

Integration work is now underway. “Now that this whole operation to integrate the pipework and the wiring and to ensure that everything works together is ongoing.”

Routledge said the vessel is expected to depart later this year. “We anticipate that later this year, the FPSO will sail to Guyana.”

He also outlined the project’s startup timeline. “Before the end of the year, we expect Uaru to start up.”

The development drilling program is advancing alongside the construction of the vessel. Routledge said, “We’ve completed 22 of the development wells for the Uaru project.”

Subsea installation work is also being prepared ahead of the vessel’s arrival. “We’re…just getting prepared for the final season of installation of subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines.”

That work will connect the FPSO to the wells upon arrival offshore. “As the FPSO comes on site, anchoring it in location and pulling in umbilicals and pulling in risers to connect the floating production facility to all the wells that we develop.”

Constructed by MODEC it will serve the Uaru field, targeting 250,000 barrels of oil per day and featuring two million barrels of storage capacity.

This is MODEC’s first FPSO project for the ExxonMobil-led consortium, which includes Hess Corporation and CNOOC Limited.

The Uara field is ExxonMobil’s 5th development in Guyana’s Stabroek Block.
